Why should I be in Montreal in June 2010?
Welcome to the Official Site of the Rotaract Host Committee!
As chair of the Rotaract Host Committee, I am so excited to welcome you all to Montréal, not only for the preconvention and convention, but to take part in an experience that will change your life. Things are now well underway for the Rotaract Preconvention takes place from June 18th-19th, 2010 and the Rotary International Convention takes place from June 20th-22nd, 2010.
Being here, you will soon learn about the wonderful food, culture, history, and internationality that Montréal has to offer. In fact, at this convention, we will be celebrating the 100th anniversary of Rotary becoming an international organization as a result of the first Rotary club meeting outside the USA in November 1910 in Canada. What better place to celebrate than back where it all started?
Your Montréal 2010 Preconvention Rotaract Host Committee (RHC) has been working hard to bring you not only an international experience, but also to introduce you to the “joie de vivre” (loosely translated, the lust for life!), which is the emotion and experience of Montréal that we want to offer you, and also the theme of our preconvention.
In a world that is changing each and every minute, few things are as certain as why you should be in Montreal in June 2010. As a Rotaractor there are few better opportunities to learn, grow and make lasting lifelong connections as there are at an international convention. Why do you think people keep coming back year after year? Ask those who were in Birmingham in 2009, Los Angeles in 2008, Salt Lake City in 2007, etc. … A RI Convention is a life changing experience.
Montreal 2010 is no different.
How are you going to make the most of this experience? Let’s break it down:
1. Register for the RI Convention and the Rotaract Preconvention.
The Convention costs money but the Preconvention is a free add on. Make sure you register! Find out more about the Preconvention here.
Having a place to stay is key to enjoying everything Montreal has to offer. We;ve make it easy for you with our suggestions.
3. Register for events and socials.
Meet other Rotaractors from around the world through service, socials, and more. Definitely the best way to feel the joie de vivre of Montreal!
Get here early and stay later. Many Rotaractors plan to visit neighbouring areas before and after the convention. Don’t be fooled by images of polar bears and arctic tundra – Canada in the summer is hot, sunny and beautiful.
